Wow, we can’t believe it’s already the second week of Second Session! A super important week for getting each of the four shows– You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Once Upon A Mattress, Footloose and Rock of Ages– on their feet, campers supported one another as they memorized lines, learned new dances and had fun.
At the start of the week, each cabin had their own Cabin Night, a time for campers to relax and continue to bond as a group. From movie nights to fashion shows, each cabin had a great time resetting in order to power through the rest of the week.
Tuesday was National Camp Kindness Day, and Haranders made sure to take time out of their day to participate in random acts of kindness. Campers, counselors and staff alike truly came together to make the day special for our entire camp community. Hobby Night was a great way to end the day, as campers were able to take part in activities like rock painting, nature walks, stage makeup, Dungeons & Dragons, tap dancing and flower making.
As rehearsals continued, campers got to spend Thursday evening with their Media Madness teams for Trivia Night! Haranders got to test their knowledge in areas like name the celebrity voice, guess the year and even guessing staff members from their baby photos. Although some sections were more of a challenge, the entire camp had fun learning new facts and sharing lots of laughs.
After services, Friday night’s Media Madness Song and Skit Night marked the end of the 2021 Harand Olympics. Each team created an original sketch inspired by the country they represent; campers not only had a blast performing for each other, but also loved watching their friends and cabin-mates shine on stage.
The week ended with Saturday night’s talent show, where Haranders performed, cheered each other on and enjoyed spending a night at the theatre. From spinning plates and solving Rubik’s cubes to singing and playing piano, campers and counselors loved sharing their special skills with one another.
