Theater Program
At Harand Camp EVERYONE is a STAR!
It is our goal for ALL campers to develop skills in the performing arts AND build self-confidence & self-esteem. We welcome all levels of experience and do not require auditions for admission.
Program Overview
In preparation for final performances, campers take daily classes in singing, dancing & acting. Occasional rehearsals are held in the evening (alternating with other activities). Sessions culminate with amazing large-scale performances in our beautiful, 400-seat, state-of-the-art theatre. Campers may also choose to enroll in extra arts courses such as costuming, technical theater, production / management, improv, stage makeup, stage combat, auditioning and more! These electives are optional and included in tuition. We recommend the first session for new Haranders!
1st Session: Musical Revue (6/15-7/6)
2nd Session: Musicals (7/7/25-7/27/25)
Campers participate in a full-length musical revue involving the entire camp. Campers learn and perform amazing songs and dances from the latest and classic Broadway hits to the popular music of today and yesterday. The show runs about two hours with amazing costumes and production values.
Families find this session and performance to be very special & unifying. While the final show is non-stop singing & dancing, campers also work on a variety acting skills in daily drama classes focusing on scenework, improv, song interpretation and more!
Past revues include: Broadway Rocks; Screen to Stage, Pure Imagination; ICONS (Music Legends); Tributes to George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, and Stephen Sondheim, Women of Broadway, Tony-Awards & more!
During the second 3 weeks, each age group prepares a full-length musical. Unlike at other camps, all Haranders have the chance to perform a leading role, and appear as part of the ensemble, ensuring that EVERY camper receives the full musical experience.
Recent shows include: Hadestown: Teen Edition, Mamma Mia, West Side Story, Into the Woods, Newsies, Shrek, Bring it On, Matilda, Gypsy, 13, Footloose, The Lightning Thief, The Wedding Singer, You're A Good Man Charlie Brown, Seussical, Urinetown, Rock of Ages, Once Upon a Mattress, Guys & Dolls, Legally Blonde, Xanadu, Bye Bye Birdie, Wizard of Oz, Peter Pan, The Little Mermaid, Willy Wonka, All Shook Up, Annie and more! All musicals are presented with proper licensing.
SCREEN TO STAGE PAGEANT
1-Week Workshop (6/15/25-6/21/25)
Limited Enrollment, First-Year Campers, Ages 7-12 Only!
The one-week session is a unique program exclusive to new campers, ages 7-12. One-weekers are fully integrated into our first session program, enjoying the same classes, recreational activities and cabin bonding as those staying the full 3 weeks. The week culminates in a Workshop performance featuring selections from the Pageant. This option is perfect for new campers who want to try camp without committing to 3 or 6 weeks. One-weekers have the option to stay for the full session!
