The
purpose of the Harand Camp Scholarship Fund is
to provide full and partial camp scholarships
to young people ages 8 to 18, from diverse backgrounds,
who have an interest in music, drama, dance, or
technical aspects of theater, who otherwise would
not be able to afford Harand Camp. Today’s
society is divided along many lines: economic,
racial, national, geographic, religious, ethnic
and social. Efforts to bridge these divisions
have been attempted legislatively as well as through
a variety of social programs. However, barriers
continue to isolate people at all levels.
Camp is an ideal setting for building understanding
and friendship among people with diverse backgrounds.
The Harand Camp experience provides natural living
situations where campers work, play, perform in
theatrical productions, and learn together under
the supervision and encouragement of trained,
caring leadership. When children of different
backgrounds experience living and working together
in this fashion, they are better equipped to live
together in an ever-changing society.
We believe that the camp experience enriches children’s
lives and that bringing children of diverse backgrounds
together can build bridges of understanding
between all people. If you believe, as we do,
please help a child go to camp this summer.
