It's so nice to hear about everyone. Harand was a big part of my life for
many years and I often think of all the great memories.

I don't know what possessed me to "stop by," but I think about the camp, the Harand family (especially Pearl) and all it's meant in my life and the lives of my daughters and came to visit. I've sent others to this magical place that Cheryl Ross Mitchell accurately describes as Brigadoon and know it lives forever in my heart and soul. I hope you will be there for my grandchildren to experience your magic and love. Thank you for all you've done, for all you've been to so many and for all you do. I attended Sulie Harand, in Evanston, as a very young girl, back in the late 1950's. Such fond memories! I remember learning to sing "Getting to Know You", from "The King and I", "Happy Talk", from "South Pacific", diaphragm exercises, dancing... Recently, I mentioned my experience to a friend, and looked you up. I am so glad to know that you are still giving wonderful training- and fond memories- to other children. I send you all good luck and best wishes.

I am doing another post I changed e-mail addresses and I want to make sure that I can be found. Also wanted to let my alumni family know that there is a 3rd generation harander on HIS way, he will be here in May. So I figure he will be ready to head to camp in 2014.

I have so many amazing memories from my summers in Beaver Dam. Who knew that the theater bug that bit me at camp would help shape my career? I'd love to hear from any and all of you!

What can i say.All my Memories are Great ones,From the very first year i was there,my Parents never thought i would do anything on stage cause i was so shy. And being in all those plays having fun,was something I'll never forget.
I rmemeber growing up there and upset that i didn't get the Main roles, but then Aunt Pearl explained to me that i was more of a Character actor. So i got Roles like Enoch snow in Carousel, or Big Julie in Guys and Dolls, one of my Favorite roles. And the friends i made each year.Or the Counselors that made and impression on me, My Favorite one Brad Witt seemd like i had him every year except for when i became a Jr Counselor. That was also fun.And the Love you felt from Aunt Sulie and Aunt Pearl was genuine, even from Uncle Sam and Uncle Byron.Of course i cant Forget Judy Friedman. They made Camp Fun. I remember when Uncle Byron Came over to our house to sign my sister up at camp.As i was watching the film of the camp and seeing all the people on stage i was thinking i dont want to go there, but then i saw the Horseback Riding,Archery, and Go Carting that sold me.and later that year i was at Camp Harand. So many memories that always make me smile. It's funny many years later my dad had said that after Harand it was hard for me not to be on stage. Was active in High School plays, and several years Later Was doing Improv in Chicago with the Improv Olympic. As much as i wish i could have done Acting for a living and it didnt work out, Harand made me Appreciate the theatre and a Love for Musicals. All i can Say is God Bless Sulie, Pearl Sam and Byron for all there Love and knowledge they pass on each and every year. With Much love and many memories. Larry "Big Julie" Korer

i dunno, a bunch I guess
Ya know, say what you will, but if it werent for Orange Juice, we probably never would have gotten Belle and Sebastian, The Decemberists, or Bright Eyes. Bottom line.

Ok, so after reading through these postings, I'm remembering a lot of things!...Gina Wolf, I remember you (and your cute older brother! :) and Lexie Klaff from...was it Carousel or Brig II?? And "Cheese", not the food, but the counselor. Kerri ( I wish I could remember your last name) my first kiss from Sean Malone in the archery pit, Uncle Byron's morning wakeup show with the Barney Google song, Sulie getting REAL mad at everyone for singing "N and D nutritious dog food" in the Harand song, Kenny Silverman the candy man, the camp legend of the haunted meat locker, and so much more. I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me!

I went to Harand for 4 years in the 70's and wonder if anyone knows where
Janet Locker might be. If I remember correctly, Janet lived in Arlington
Heights. Janet, if you read this or if anyone knows where she is, email me.

I think about camp all the time and keep in touch with my best friends from
Harand. I couldn't have survived pre-teen years without my very own Brigadoon!

I just found this site through an old camp friend. I am very happy to see that camp Harand is still up and running and the tradition is still very much alive. I experienced all my firsts at camp Harand and to this day I carry awsome memories and life long friends from what I consider the best summers of my youth.

Thinking back to my years at Harand, my proudest moment was performing in Hans Christian Andersen. I had the lead in "The Emperor's New Clothes," and I recall walking out on stage in nothing more than a bathing suit! ("To a fool, it is absolutely invisible!") I also remember performing my first original songs in the talent shows. I now have my own business running automated telephone services, and I still write music. Check out my original songs at www.myspace.com/philmoreproductions

heyy haranders:
even though I have gone away
the memories of camp are here to stay
i will always remember being in brig 1
because we had by far the most fun
goofing off and singing songs from fame
and staring in our great play mame
I will always remember those great summer nights
though in the end we had a couple of fights
from painting the mural to singing on stage
we have seemed to mature with age
I cannot wait until next year
to see all the friends that i hold so dear
I luv all you crazy brig 1 girls
just remember:
H-A-R-A-N-D
find out what it means to me
H-A-R-A-N-D
Harand's the camp for me!!!

My 2 year old son, Mylo, and I sing Bushel and a Peck every night before bed. While we sing I reflect upon dancing around in leg warmers in the dance studio to Judy's choreography. I wish I could go back! Thanks for all the wonderful memories.

It's been so long since being a camper in the mid-'60s and a then a JC. Carosel, Fiorello, Cinderella, Oklahoma, WOW!! Harand, I still love and miss you. Sulie, Uncle Byron, and everyone I sang, danced and played with, you're still in my heart. "With our handprints our hearts will remain here."

My downstairs neighbor had a CD of "Once Upon A Mattress", and it started a flood of memories... It's terrific to see recent pictures - So good to see Errol, so weird to see Todd London [the last time I saw him he was under 4' tall!!!] I'm so happy to know this place is still going - a force for good in the world! Yea! I'm in NYC, still doing a little theatre - and acupuncture!
Life is good - I hope you all are thriving.
